On National Record Store Day, Saturday, April 12, will you be taking a spin to CD Cellar – one of the largest record stores in the mid-Atlantic and, for the last 32 years, a northern Virginia hub for record collectors and music aficionados?

Clearly, it's the place to be! And for the Saturday jam, they'll be opening at 8:00 a.m., two hours early! The shop is located at 105 Park Ave. in the City of Falls Church, near the State Theatre.

"🕺🎶 Check it out! Click here for the ultimate lineup of Record Store Day's fresh drops! 🎉✨," CD Cellar posted on their website. "If you're on the hunt for something truly special, swing by early to snag the best goodies, and remember to come with good vibes....  no elbowing! ✌️🎧"

National Attention for CD Cellar

This morning, CD Cellar received national radio attention on "Get Out There: WAMU's Weekly Arts Chat and Guide," as reporter Jackson Sinnenberg informed host Tamika Smith that he'll be at CD Cellar tomorrow.

In their print story from this morning's broadcast, Sinnenberg highlighted CD Cellar above all other Virginia indy record stores – noting they're a: "one-stop shop for physical media of all kinds. Its double storefront contains rows of new and used vinyl records, from $1 oldies albums to hi-fidelity reproductions of classic albums to $400 rare albums from the 1950s and before. You can find hip-hop, folk, movie soundtracks, jazz, and one of the largest collections of vintage blues records in the area. They also have CDs, cassettes, DVDs and blu-rays to browse."

According to Wikipedia, "Record Store Day is a semi-annual event established in 2008[1] to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store." Held on one Saturday (typically the third) every April and every Black Friday in November, the day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores around the world.[2] A number of records are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, with a list of releases for each country, and are only distributed to shops participating in the event."

According to WAMU reporter Sinnenberg, this Record Store Day, "artists from David Bowie and Taylor Swift to Motörhead, jazz trumpeter Kenny Dorham and D.C.’s own Thievery Corporation will be releasing vinyl albums and 7-inch singles to independent record stores exclusively this Saturday. Fans from around the region are expected to line-up early in the morning to get a crack at these wax treasures, some of which are seeing the light of day for the first time."

Falls Church’s CD Cellar: 32 Years & Thriving
If you’re not sure how CD Cellar – Falls Church’s only record shop specializing in Compact Discs (CDs), Vinyl long-playing records (LPs), and Digital Video Discs (DVDs) – has managed to survive for 32 years and counting, you’re probably uncertain how the business has managed to thrive and grow all these years to become one of the largest record stores in the mid-Atlantic and a northern Virginia hub for record collectors and music aficionados.

Happy Record Store Day!
