FCCPS Announces New Director of Facilities; Oak St. Elem. to Hold Ribbon-Cutting

Falls Church City Public Schools (FCCPS) is "excited to announce that Kevin Mehm will become our new Director of Facilities, effective March 17, 2025," per a Feb. 24 FCCPS press release.
"Kevin brings a wealth of experience in facilities management, real estate, operations, and security from public education and the private sector," FCCPS said. "He joins us from KIPP DC, where he has served since 2015, most recently as Senior Managing Director of Real Estate and Facilities. In this role, he oversaw an extensive real estate portfolio spanning eight campuses, one million square feet, and a student population of 7,300. Kevin led strategic planning, capital projects, security initiatives, and operational management, ensuring safe and well-maintained learning environments."

"Prior to KIPP DC, Kevin held leadership roles in Prince George’s County Public Schools, where he spearheaded key projects in maintenance operations, security, and emergency preparedness for a district serving 125,000 students across 205 schools. Earlier in his career, he gained corporate experience with Lenovo and Russell Corporation, focusing on strategy, operations, and brand management."
"Kevin is a resident of Falls Church City and holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he was a Dean’s Scholar. He also holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill."
Falls Church City Public Schools Celebrates Accessible Playground Pathway
Falls Church City Public Schools invites the community to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the installation of a new accessible pathway at Oak Street Elementary School's playground. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at 4:15 p.m.
The accessible pathway was "created following the advocacy of a student who uses a wheelchair and wants equal access to playground equipment. This important addition ensures that all students can participate in playground activities regardless of mobility challenges," FCCPS said in a Feb. 25 press release.
This celebration's theme is, "All are welcome. All can play," highlighting the school's commitment to inclusivity and equal access for all students.
